Utica Uptown NY Forward Meeting Moved to Nov. 17; Project Ideas Due Nov. 6

Why it matters here

This committee picks which Uptown projects compete for Utica's $4.5 million state NY Forward award, and anyone can still pitch one until Nov. 6.

The third public meeting of Utica's Uptown District NY Forward planning committee is now Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2026, 6 to 8 p.m., in the first-floor rotunda of the Utica Children's Museum, 106 Memorial Parkway. It was set for Oct. 26; the Rome Sentinel and WKTV reported the change. It's free and open to the public, with public comment at the start.

On the agenda: planning updates, the vision and goals for Uptown, findings from the district assessment, how projects will be scored, and a first look at proposed projects.

Have a project idea? The open call for proposals now closes Friday, Nov. 6 (it was Oct. 16). The committee wants projects in the Uptown District, including the Genesee Street commercial strip, that would spark more investment. Forms are online, as a fillable PDF, or on paper at UptownUticaForward.org.

No reason for the date change was given.
