Ballin' for Berlin Basketball Tournament at MVCC in Utica, Oct. 24–25
Forty-plus games in one building over two days, from youth teams to adults, for two bucks at the door.
Ballin' for Berlin runs Saturday, Oct. 24 and Sunday, Oct. 25 in the field house at MVCC's Jorgensen Athletic/Events Center, 1101 Sherman Drive in Utica. Doors open at 9:30 a.m., games go from 10 a.m. to about 7 p.m. both days, and spectators pay $2 per person per day.
More than 40 games are scheduled across three courts, with youth, high school and adult divisions.
Organizer Duchane Boyd started the tournament in memory of his late infant daughter, Berlin. He hopes to make it a yearly event and, down the road, fund a scholarship for a Proctor High School graduate to attend MVCC. That scholarship doesn't exist yet.
